Maternity Fairy Clothes: Lady in Waiting

This is just two days before Oliver was born and the last day I went to work. Crazy! Here are the purple flats again. A coworker and I realized we were wearing the same shoes, though hers were black. My having a meeting just forty-eight hours before the hospital admitted me seems crazy!

Mom and I love looking around at Francesca's. We had never actually bought anything until one day when I went in and drop a lump of cash on three jacket-like items (including this jacket and the navy ruffled cardigan from an earlier post). Neither of us cared for the military style until we saw this jacket. I think it's even cuter buttoned up, but of course, I couldn't wear it that way. I think everything is better with ruffles, glitter, rhinestones, or sequins.

I love this warm and irreverent stripey lining.

I have no idea what is coming my way, but I'll have my precious boy soon.

And that is the last maternity fairy clothes post.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Teal and Purple.

While this dress was very comfortable and wonderful to have during my third trimester, I will not miss it. I like the color combination, though.

In fact, I repeated it on my eyes, using the Too Faced Enchanted Glamourland pallette. These purple flats became the only shoes I wanted to wear at the end. Josh and I would take short walks on campus during my break, and these shoes didn't hurt.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Royal Treatment.

I think this was the day of my last ultrasound and of my surprise baby shower at work. The red evidence of my respiratory problems appears around my nose. My mother gave me this gorgeous purple cardigan as a Christmas present just before I began teaching. It was one of the first pieces in my teaching wardrobe! I can't wait to start buttoning it again.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Royal Ruffles.

This poor tank top is straining! I hope I didn't stretch it out too much.

This cardigan was an irresistible find with its fancy pirate ruffles and that lace on the cuff but not right at the hem. This is a feel-good piece of clothing.

These earrings aren't my usual style (I go for dangling more than big and round), but I like them!

A baby is in there!

Maternity Fairy Clothes: And Mend My Pockets for Me.

I'm glad I got another wear out of this fantastic maternity tank top!

This tiny pocket with a tiny rhinestone on the button makes me think of something Wendy would sew.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Stormy.

On cold days, I tend to bundle up in dark colors. I need to make sure to incorporate plenty of brightness this fall and winter to keep my spirits up, especially as I'm away from my precious family. Still, black and gray make me feel sophisticated.

This warm cardigan has rhinestone buttons. It's too awesome. And the key necklace is always wonderful.

I'm looking a little wistful. I don't have very long to wait!

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Beribboned.

I like this navy and burgundy combination.

This is another of those ribbon-trimmed cardigans from Old Navy. And yes, that is Oliver ten days before his birth.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Poetic Princess.

I wore this on the day of Mr. Poet and luncheon at the college president's house. I had to get more use out of this great maternity dress (which I also wore when my thesis adviser visited campus in the spring). As it turned out, this was the last time I'd wear the dress. I love the long necklace and the way it curved out with my belly.

I'm wild for Cicely Mary Barker's flower fairies. My grandmother bought me this purse years ago. I think it was in Asheville, NC at a charming little gift shop near the Biltmore. This became my go-to purse when my big bags were no longer comfortable. My cell phone, keys, wallet, and lip gloss barely fit in the purse, but it's so pretty.

The end of my pregnancy was rough, but this was a great day.

Posting backlogged maternity photos is a bit surreal. I didn't realize how much swelling I had. I thought I was just rather chubby, but the double chin and many other features faded too quickly to be that. Anyway, this dress was a lucky purchase. It's lovely, and it worked throughout my pregnancy. The fabric is soft and light, and the color makes me feel like royalty.

I love embellishments like this.

These earrings are fun, and I like that the metal is pewter-colored instead of bright silver.

I wish I could actually see this prettiness when I wear the cardigan!

I like how Josh's shadow appears in these photos.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Chocolate Friday.

Black and gray are usually my go-to neutrals, but chocolate is great too. I'm glad I have a dress in that color now. This dress was also a great find because it has sleeves--rare for dresses. So if it's a warm day or I get hot at work, I don't have to wear a jacket or cardigan. The fact that it holds my pregnancy fairly gracefully even though it's not maternity is wonderful too.

I searched for brown earrings for a while before finding these at Black Lion.

This is the last of the new headbands!

Josh makes silly comments while he takes my photo. He likes to see what kind of semi-flirty, semi-exasperated faces I'll make.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: More Teal.

I wore this for that crazy doctor's appointment day. At least I was comfortable! This is another of those beautiful, super soft tops my mom got me for my birthday. A maternity clothes birthday was the best idea ever.

I have this cardigan in three colors! I love the ribbon trim. You can see our tragic flat tire, the second in two weeks (now fixed), in the background.

This is one of my simpler necklaces.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Jewel Tones.

These colors remind me of two of my Levenger inks: Amethyst and Gemstone Green. I'll never get over this emerald cardigan.

Why, yes, pinstriped maternity skirts do exist! And if you buy one a size up, it can be comfortable! I'll try to get a bit more wear out of this one. I'm sure it would look great with black tights during a winter pregnancy.

These are my new shiny purple flats! The stretchy back keeps them relatively comfortable even with the swelling.

You guessed it: another fabulous headband. These are really improving my quality of life.

This is that Almay for green eyes eyeshadow. Like! It really does bring out the green.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: In the Details.

I haven't worn this pretty maternity blouse enough. We had a cloudy, slightly chilly day, so I decided to go for a bright autumn outfit.
This may be my favorite jacket. I got it on crazy sale. It looks like it's wearing a ruffled underskirt.

This is another of my pretty new headbands (clearance!). Life is good.

Maternity Fairy Clothes: Pewter.

I'm trying to get more use out of this excellent black maternity dress without looking like I'm wearing the same outfit every time.

The shimmery flower details keep this charcoal gray cardigan away from ordinary.

I just bought this headband at Target recently, and it's probably my current favorite. I love the dark silver shade and the two strands, and it keeps my hair in place.

I also got these tweedy gray flats at Target recently. They're comfortable and look classy but still unique.

Comfortable & confident.
